Posting of Temporary Banners
Middle Earth/Palo Verde, Health Sciences, and Humanities/Arts Bridge
Posting
of temporary or special event banners, will be permitted on The Middle
Earth/Palo Verde, The Health Sciences, and Humanities/Arts Bridges
under the following conditions:
- All banner reservations are to be arranged through Scheduling & Conference Services.
- The purpose of the banner shall inform the campus of significant events. Examples: Celebrate UCI, Arts Week, Commencement etc.
- Individuals are not allowed to use these spaces for political campaigning such as ASUCI/AGS campaigning.
- The organization, ASUCI, would be permitted to advertise election week.
- Major campus activities (Celebrate, Commencement) shall have posting priority.
- Banners
are not to advertise commercial ventures such as credit card companies,
phone cards etc., or in any manner indicate commercial sponsorship of
an event
(example: “Pepsi Presents: Celebrate UCI”)
- Posting of the banner will be limited to a period of 7 consecutive days.
- The total number of banners per quarter per sponsor may be restricted due to other campus commitments.
- Only one banner may be posted on each side of the bridge at a time. Sponsors may not post on both sides of a bridge.
- Banners
are to be constructed of a suitable material such as canvas, vinyl, or
nylon. PAPER or CARDBOARD BANNERS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.
- The
size of the banner shall be limited to a total area of 30 square feet
(3X10 recommended; 5X6 acceptable; or anything smaller)
- Banners
shall not be affixed to any painted surfaces with tape. Banners shall
be secured to the bridge(s) with suitable material such as rope or
nylon ties. Banners are not to hang below the surface of the bridge(s)
walkway.
- Arrangements for hanging banners may be coordinated through Scheduling & Conference Services for a fee.
- Banners
that are not removed promptly by the sponsor shall be removed by campus
personnel. The cost of removal shall be charged to the sponsor.
- Any
exceptions to this policy shall be approved in advance by the Associate
Vice Chancellor of Student affairs or the designated authority.
